My Hero
by David Beaune
My hero is an extraordinary man
He stands up tall and proud.
You'll have no trouble spotting him,
He stands out in a crowd.
My hero is a fighting man,
But not for praise or merit.
He did his part for all of us,
For freedom we'd inherit.
My hero is a courageous man,
Full of guts and glory.
His duties he performs,
To make his enemy sorry.
My hero is a compassionate man,
You'll often see he's cried.
Especially lost in memories
Of when his buddies died.
My hero is a teaching man,
His lessons he bestows,
To anyone who listens,
He'll share everything he knows.
My hero is an honourable man,
His life will bear no shame.
So say it with his due respect,
When you say his name.
My hero is a family man,
A husband, son and brother.
My hero is not a famous man
My hero is my father.
